The Minutes On 9 - Channel 9 Video Interviews with the ASP.NET 4 Team

Who loves you? Not only is Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 now available for everyone to download (not just subscribers) but I've got 11 short video interviews with the ASP.NET 4 team up on Channel 9.

I was up in Redmond just last week and made sure to stop by the offices of as many ASP.NET developers and program managers as I could. I chatted with a few faces you may recognize and a few you may not. All of them are working hard to make ASP.NET 4 cool.

I'm still working on my video techniques, and I used two different HD cameras to film these videos. Your feedback (negative AND positive) is always appreciated.

This series of videos is called Hanselminutes on 9 and you can get to all of these (and many more) using the Channel 9 Tag "hanselminuteson9." You can also subscribe via RSS to just those videos. There are also iPod, Zune, PSP and large WMV versions of every video to download as well as basic MP3's if you just want audio.

One minor annoyance with the msdn landing page is (yes, I used to work in QA - hence the bad habit of spotting these things!) that the text in the header has an asterisk next to "deploy", but nowhere in the page is there a reference/explanation for the asterisk.

Still - Beta 2 is downloading as I type! =)

One thing I just noticed: if you have the Silverlight beta SDK installed, that part of the VS2010 install will fail.

Regarding video technique, I know people give you crap for the handheld, but it's not bad. A tripod would still be better. :) Beyond that, if you can find a shotgun mic or a way to put a lavalier on people, that's really the thing that would improve the video the most. Some environments you shoot in make it really hard to hear your subject. Obviously this depends on what your gear is. A light wouldn't hurt, but developers mostly need to be heard, not seen.

Scott, thanks. Your posts about the Vado were inspiring so I've recently picked one of those up. Looking forward to playing with it more. I'm really impressed with the wide angle-ness of the device out of the box. The Canon HF is amazing (I don't have one, just from the content I've seen), there is a guy (http://vimeo.com/trondsvendsen) that shoots some amazing detail with that camera.

This is GREAT news. jQuery is a GREAT library that makes client-side coding approachable and it's damn good to see that you are not reinventing the wheel here. BRAVO! dictionar grec
This also gives jQuery even more legitimacy and could even lead to jQuery optimizations moved into the browser.

I hate Channel9 Videos bcaz there video size is large and it hangs a lot while streaming..Please Upload Channel9 Videos on Youtube...so that users with low bandwidth can easily watch them! Hanselman please convey this message to Channel 9 Team..Thanks you

Some environments you shoot in accomplish it absolutely harder to apprehend your subject. Obviously this depends on what your accessory is. A ablaze wouldn't hurt, but developers mostly charge to be heard, not seen.
