MaxiVista is out with their new 1.5 version.  This new version has a few bug fixes, but also supports up to THREE secondary displays via three other PCs.  If you've got other laptops or Tablets around, you've GOT to try MaxiVista.  Don't confuse it with ShareKMC or VNC.

This is a SOFTWARE DISPLAY ADAPTER that shows up in your Display Properties.  Treat it like any other monitor. Here's my setup. It's pure sex.

Another free open source option (and multiplatform!) is Synergy. You gotta check it out http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/about.html

I tried the demo out a while ago and it's an awesome program. I'm using an old laptop that I don't use much anymore and it runs nicely. All I need now is a couple more laptops..=p

Daaaaaaaaamn cool! Awesome. I have bought a license and have now 4 laptops running together like in their video. It's just mindblowing.

Thanks for sharing that.

P.S. Mike: Synergy is something totally different

Does anyone know if this poses any known security risks? I work in an environment that tries to adhere to a high level of security.

As an aside, I am curious where the phrase "it's pure sex" originated, or at least its history of use among geeks. I started using it last year, but it was not because I read it somewhere, it simply popped out one day and the person that first heard me say it outloud thought I was a freak. I soon found however, that other people in the developer community were using it as well. And here it is again. I think it is a great phrase, but people do raise eyebrows at it, especially when I say that some inanimate object is 'pure sex;' they think I am sex-deprived.

Any ideas on the etymology? :P
