If you are headed to TechEd 2007 in Orlando, make sure you make the time to go to Party with Palermo. Jeff throws an unmatched geek party and you don't want to miss it.

It's free, and I can attest, it's great. You'll meet lots of cool folks, many bloggers, wonks and other geeks. I went to the last one in Seattle and had a blast.

Sadly this year, a very large combination of events, both business and personal, meant that I have had to bow out of TechEd, so I won't be there to join you. It's only the second time ever I've canceled a speaking gig, and I'm bummed, but it was the right thing to do at this point.

But for you who are going, go over to the Party with Palermo Website and RSVP by leaving a comment right now!

It's June 3rd, 2007 @ 7PM - 11PM at Glo Lounge:  http://www.gloloungeorlando.com/
8967 International Dr, Orlando, FL
(407) 351-0361

Enjoy. My giant head may appear via Skype Video Conferencing at some point during the evening. ;)

Jeff's also been kind enough to add Team Hanselman and our Diabetes Walk 2007 as honorary community sponsors of the event, so drink lots of beer and click for a Tax-Deductible Donation.

Sorry you won't be there. Built my schedule around you, Mark Miller and a couple of other superheros and now you go and tell me to attend some boring session instead.

I'm very sorry, but when I am at liberty to explain in full, I'm sure you'll forgive me.
May 24, 2007 6:45
Oh, and if anyone wants to "virtually" hang out while they're at teched, or whenever, call me on Skype at "glucopilot." It's amazing how well Skype's video works. Maybe we can do an Alt.Teched with Live Meeting or Skype Conference.
May 24, 2007 6:52
Hey Scott, I hope everything is alright. I was hoping to get to talk with you in person at Palermo's or the influencial party, but I understand how things go sometime. Maybe we can chat at the PDC?
May 24, 2007 8:18
Scott -

Very bummed to hear you won't be able to make it, but c'est la vie. What does this mean for your pre-conference seminar? I was really looking forward to that. Is somebody else going to be presenting it?
May 24, 2007 8:29
Oh, never mind. I see they added Ron Jacobs to the billing for that one (it was just you when I registered).
May 24, 2007 8:37
No, actually Ron Jacobs and I gave that Pre-Con in Barcelona together. In this instance, he'll be giving it all himself. It's very good content, mostly Ron's, so I encourage you to check it out. Not sure why he was "added" as he was always the Alpha Dog on that talk.
May 24, 2007 8:51
Yep, I still plan to. Ron was already on my list of people to see, so I'm still looking forward to it.

I could be wrong about the billing on that pre-con, but I could swear yours was the only name on it when I registered back in March. *shrug* I didn't mean to imply anything by it.

It looks like Patrick is going to be doing the NDepend BOF now, right?
May 24, 2007 8:55
Yes, Patrick Cauldwell has been using NDepend for a while now on our NextGen Platform and will be covering that talk for me, and John Lam will be doing the DLR. Patrick will likely join him for that also.
May 24, 2007 9:26
Oh, too bad. Was looking forward to the architecture pre-con. I signed up after seeing you were giving it. I wonder if they would give me my money back?

I guess if the content won't change then it will be worth it anyways. I imagine you have a good reason for the change so don't sweat it.
May 24, 2007 13:38
Really sorry about that José. Ron and I have a lot of run when we do this, but I know he'll do great with me dragging him down. :) He's got an interesting "Beyond Bullets" PowerPoint Style that I think you'll enjoy.
May 24, 2007 17:34
Seriously sucks to hear that you're not attending Scott - and after I plugged your talk with John Lam and all...
I totally understand, as I'm lucky to make it to Orlando this time with a second child in the house now (two months)! I'm thankful for my mother-in-law right about now working for Skywest. Can you put a list together of talks you figure are off-the-chain for the modern developer/IT person? As for Party with Palermo - I don't get in early enough (10pm). :(
May 24, 2007 21:12
hey Scott, sorry to hear you're not coming. thanks for the heads up on the party though, I can never say no to a good party =)
May 24, 2007 22:03
Scott,

I'm sorry to hear you're not attending. I am scheduled for the Software Arch. pre-conference session you were leading. I was looking forward to meeting you.

I hope all is well and I know you have good reason not to attend.

That's a bummer. I signed up for the Architecture pre-conf and was particularly interested in your ideas and the banter between you and Ron during the session.
May 27, 2007 10:05
Be sure to check out Patrick Cauldwell's BoFs, especially the one about NDepend.
