image Well, I think I've got my schedule down for the first half of this year. Here's what I've got so far.

I'm trying to work out a way to get over to the Middle East to see and talk to Developers over there, unfortunately the flights from here usually take between 21 and 29 hours, as opposed to less than 10 to use Norway as an example. This is really hard on my diabetes (and Norway will be also but it's 1/3 as long) but it's also hard on the family and I need to keep balance. That said, I'm actively working on a way to hang out in EMEA for some time, maybe bring the family along.

I hope I'll see some of you at one of these events!

Nice Colbert reference.

Hi Scott,

Quick edit: Boise Code Camp is on March 8, not March 9.
February 01, 2008 5:05
Eek! Fixed! Thanks.
February 01, 2008 5:07
You're a busy man! But thats what happens when you're good at what you do LOL.
February 01, 2008 5:24
When are you coming down under? Would be great to see you present live sometime.
February 01, 2008 7:17
Scott,

Your link http://www.techready.com/ for TechReady6 seems to go to an odd page. Is it the link you wanted to post?

Dmitry.

Scott,

The main event is probably Tech Ed -Tech.Ed 2008 will be held in Sydney Tuesday, 2nd September to Friday, 5th September.
I will be going so I would selfishly recommend this as your best opportunity to do something :-).

Cheers

Hey Scott, we'd love to have you out to the MountainWest RubyConf on March 28-29 in Salt Lake City. We have a terrific speaker list and it should be alot of fun.

I'm hoping to be at the Boise Code Camp and maybe present something on Polyglot Programming with C# and IronRuby. We'll see.

Hi Scott,

Great to see you're coming to Norway. When you are out traveling the world, do you sometimes manage to visit local user groups? If your answer is no, and it's because you've never get asked, I pop the question now ;)
February 02, 2008 0:42
Sure, if I can do them either the same day, or nearby. Meaning, because I have young kids I don't usually EXTEND trips, but I'll hang out, do nerd dinners, talks, whatever, the whole time I'm there.

"I hope I'll see some of you at one of these events!"

Oh, you will.

You will indeed.

Northwest which is a partner with KLM will start direct flights from Portland to Amsterdam on March 29th.
In Amsterdam you can take KLM direct flights to some Middle East cities like Cairo. This will cut a few hours from the total journey. This works now with Lufthansa. Portland-Frankfurt (direct) - Cairo (direct). My idea is to take a break in Europe and then continue to ME.

And by "maybe" for TechEd Developers, you meant "for sure", right? Right?
'Cause I just got approval to attend this year, and it'll be my first large developer conference, and I've got a laundry list of people to meet in person. :)
February 02, 2008 11:37
Hey Scott, I second the vote for you to come visit us in Australia - TechEd 2008, as Gary mentioned..

It would be great to see you present live.

I'm soo looking forward to Norwegian Dev. Con. :)
Scott: You should bring your family over to Norway and spend some time here. We've got som great sights; the fjords, the midnight sun and the polar bears! :) I'd be more than happy to be your guide! Seriously.

Scott,

Did you say Middleeast ?

We'll love to have you here.

Just so you know, there's Pakistan Developers Conference every year in Karachi, Pakistan (http://www.microsoft.com/middleeast/pakistan/conference), then there is a Gulf Developers Conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates [link's dead] and some road-show events.
February 04, 2008 17:34
Will you be at TechReady7? Hope yes to see your face live!
February 04, 2008 21:39
Hi Scott

Looking forward to see you talking at the Norwegian Developer Conference 2008! I attended your talk at TechEd 2006 about Threat Modeling, and I think you performance was very good!

Question 1: What are you going to talk about (in Oslo)?

Question 2: How long are you going to stay in Oslo? The reason I’m asking - there is a .NET user group (NNUG) in Oslo with lots of .NET geeks. I think they would have loved it if you could do a talk about the ASP.NET MVC Framework or some other cool stuff you have going on.

Greetings from Norway

Giulio - Isn't this TR6? Yes, I will. Are you coming to the nerd dinner on Weds? I'm talking on MVC with PhilHa on Weds morning.

Gøran - 1. Not sure yet, probably ASP.NET Extensions. Maybe something on Community. What do you want to hear? 2. I can definitely talk to a User Group, but I'll probably only be in town for 3 days or so.

Hi again!

Thanks for the quick reply.

I’ve mailed Rune Grothaug, Anders Norås and Tor-Einar Solli about you being in Oslo and user group opportunities. So I leave it up to them taking this further with you.

Microsoft is currently hosting an MSDN event in Norway right now, and I’m one of the speakers. I’m giving a presentation about the ASP.NET MVC framework. My aim is to give the audience a basic introduction to the framework and show them what they can do with it.

So, therefore I think an in-dept presentation about the framework would be a nice topic at NNUG. Focus on goodness (pretty urls, pluggable, testable, work with existing asp.net functions) and best practices. I think the audience wants to hear you tell them how they should build an application based on this framework. How they should organize their code, where to put unit tests, models, views etc. Show how they can use ORM-mappers (LINQ, NHibernate) to gain productivity etc.

I think many of the NNUG members in Oslo will attend at the Norwegian Developer Conference 2008. So if you are going to talk about ASP.NET MVC in your keynote, you can just take it further in the NNUG session.

Looking forward to your session!

All the best

London!!!!!!
Do it... ;)
February 07, 2008 5:03
Yeah, Scott - your TR talk goes up against my talk that I'm doing with Larry Clarkin. I guess we'll have no one show up to ours now. Good - I can stop stressing about it now.

Is anyone carpooling over to the nerd dinner in Bellevue?
February 18, 2008 1:47
Great news about you coming to Norway. It would be brilliant if you came to NNUG as Gøran suggested too. :)
