I don't understand what it buys you. You still have a read-only PDF file. Until, I can copy and paste this puppy into word and keep formatting - the utility is useless.

It's nice (anything would be better than the time that it takes Acrobat to open a file in Firefox), but do you know how to better integrate it with Firefox? I changed it so that it opens when I click on a PDF file, but it opens it in a separate window. Acrobat used to open PDF files in a new tab for me. Any way to get it to do that?

Installed. Thanks, Scott i've been itching for a replacement for Acrobat. Adob) really needs competition to get them rolling on improving their horrible reader. Foxit has potential.

Great find Scott. I've grown weary of having to deal with slow load times and errant Adobe processes just to read basic PDF documents. When I opened a large Patterns & Practices PDF, Foxit Reader used about 1/2 the memory that Adobe Reader used when opening the same file (16MB vs 32MB).

Another great feature is that there is no installation routine. You just copy and run the exe and it prompts you whether to set the .PDF association. Perfect for the USB key.

I made the move to Foxit about a month ago and I'm not regreting it one bit. Excellent piece of software.

You might want to check out PDFCreator too. It will create a pseudo-printer for you, just like Distiller, so you can create PDFs from any app that prints.

Agreed. Made the switch a couple months ago. I too am glad to be rid of acrobat - it has always left a bad taste in my mouth.

Sure is Lite, but section bookmarks don't work.

I ranted about Acrobat earlier this year, and FoxIt was the manyfold recommendation. Since then Acrobat is off my system. What amazes me however is the fervor of the comments that keep on coming...

I like Foxit and Firefox too, but I don't understand what they have to do with each other. I also like IE because it uses less resources and seems a lot faster than Firefox, so I don't see the equation as being the same. Unfortunately there are still a lot of forms I use so I still have to keep acrobat 7 installed. I wish there was a quick switch option too so when I clicked a link I could have it load in either one.
