There wouldn't happen to be a counter-petition anywheres to convince MS to not waste time on such nonsense?

The petition is great and all but it really doesn’t go far enough. We need to go the distance and bring full compilation and IDE support for QBasic. Revolutionary brothers and sisters, dust off your 5.25” floppies and bring our QBasic comrades into the 21st century.

You have to feel sorry for the poor bastards (VB6 programmers), if all I knew was VB6, I'd probably be scared about my future job prospects, but hey, they knew it was coming.

While we are at it, let's also demand that the Internet be extinct... C'mon people, this looks like a reality TV show "Amish in the bytes" (I hope I don't offend any Amish by saying that)

Keith... just blog about this and link to everyone else who is on our side. If you don't have a blog, now's a good time to start ;-)

Why do you care? Do you feel the petition as a threat? What would happen if someone took the responsibility to support VB6? Does it occure to you that some people may have a good business reason for the petition?

Let's just face it: VB6 is the new COBOL. Only way to kill it is to remove COM from Windows, and when will that happen?

We all know Scott H. is technically inclined, but now he's answered the question about his business intelligence: he's not too bright.

Aiax,

Ouch!

* The code out there works now and will still work. We're talking about Microsoft removing *generally available support.* When was the last time a VB6 Service Pack came out? They're just not releasing any more. They're not going to flip a magic switch and make vbvm60.dll stop running.

* There is till another FOUR YEARS of extended support and another FOUR YEARS of 'super extended $' support after that. Seems like everyone's missing THAT point.

I think folks will be thinking of doing new Windows development in managed code by 2011...no?
