Hi Scott,

I had been planning to get something like this in our house too. But it a 15 yr old house, and I've the slighest idea of what needs to be done and how to be done.

Finally I hired a contractor to this, and the work should be done in another few weeks ( yes piecemeal type project).

I also don't like the wireless (802.<anything>). If it has to penetrate couple walls, the signal is not there anymore :-).

Now I'm facing a problem !. What router should I pick. Actually I was thinking not to use any switch in the closet. Thankfully the cabinet is big to keep the distributed audio switch/cable modems/ and network router. But I would prefer not to use switch to do the port replication there. But it is hard to find a 16 port eathernet router. Linksys has some ( that are reasonably priced) but not sure if I can use 16 of them to plug to my 16 ethernet (PBX :-) at the closet. My plan is to use switch from the wall outlet if needed, but not at the source ( cabinet ). Any recommendation???

Also I'm bit worried about the heat problem ( since in northern california, some months could see hundred ).

I'm also leaning on NOVO distributed audio, if anyone can suggest any other model to look at that would be great.

It's great to see some of you are sharing the experiances.

Thanks very much
