MoreTipsA while back I posted some Presentation Tips. I will update them one day as I've learned oodles since then.

However, for the CodeCamp this weekend (surely you're going...) I've been asked to give a Presentation Skills Workshop.

That's a tall order, as everyone has their opinion about what makes a good or bad presentation. At any rate, here's the PPT I'm going to use during my talk.

That was meant to be a joke about reading slides. :( Didn't work. I'll change it.

A presentation about presenting.

Metadata at it's finest. ;)

Sadly, I'll miss all of the festivities on Friday night. Which sucks because the last time I had to routinely give presentations was in college and we were supposed to trim down the material to 20 minutes. It usually took an hour to present 20 minutes worth of material to the graduate level classes I had to present in. I'll either go over time or we'll all end up singing "row, row, row your boat" because I finished too fast.

I'll miss most of Saturday too, baby classes in the morning.

Oh oh oh oh. Can you throw in one more? "Make sure people can read your slides in a dark room." At the Philly Code Camp the template had a black typeface on a dark blue background. Imagine what it looks like in a dark room. :) I just *had* to use a lighter one (http://www.aspnetresources.com/stuff/philly_talk/code_camp.html).

Well it probably does if you're reading it - I was out of context slightly
(the problem with getting just a ppt and not a video of an actual presentation).

Plus, I thought I found a mistake in Scott's presentation - do you know how excited I was?!

I really like these tips, Scott. "Know your affectations" is one of my favorites. I've spent plenty of time getting to know mine. :) Well done.

We taped our internal dev conference a couple months back so I got to see myself present for the first time..
Elastic bands attached to my wrists, and my waist might be an idea, I tend to wave my arms around a lot!

In this presentation I also talk about a million words a minute, but that's because there was 3 of us presenting at different times and we were running out of time! I needed to squeeze 20minutes into the last 10, so it kinda got a bit crazy towards the end.

I guess a practice run might have helped us time things a little better but sometimes it's fun just to wing it together. We actually had a bunch of fun with the 3 of us up there, 2 seated, 1 presenting at a time but bouncing stuff back and forth.
